Benefits of Using a Private Investigator
There are many issues that can be dealt with by individuals without reverting to hiring an investigator. There are, however, many reasons and situations where an investigator is deemed to be the preferred option.
Disregarding the complexities of any given task or environment, at a basic level there are a number of practical reasons to use the services of an investigator the most usual being . . .
It’s Simply Business
The investigation may be for commercial purposes with all evidence reported ultimately being used to support further action.
Instructing an investigator is simply a cost-effective and convenient method of obtaining the necessary information in a timely and discrete manner.
PRACTICAL v EMOTIONAL
PRACTICAL
Logistics
A client may be remote from the location, may have other commitments or it is the most practical or economic use of resources.
Safety
An investigator can operate in areas that may be impractical, uncomfortable or simply too dangerous for clients to visit. An ineffective client may be seen to be clearly out of place and may compromise an investigation.
Support
No investigator will be deployed onsite under any circumstances without other parties being made aware of the situation and communicating any issues, in real time. Resources are available to address any reasonably anticipated situation arising.
Discretion
A client may not wish to compromise the outcome of an investigation by raising the possibility of being seen by the 3rd party in any given environment/situation that may be out of context to what they would reasonably expect. Additionally, highlighting a possible investigation is likely to increase the 3rd party’s awareness and influence their behaviour.
Situational Awareness
A client is unlikely to have the experience and confidence to plan and undertake a covert surveillance without being compromised by other parties. Confidence to present a cover story is paramount and also the experience to know when to abort a surveillance is vitally important to avoid compromising an investigation and more importantly to prevent any potential confrontation.
Preparation
A client may not have access to the most appropriate clothing and equipment needed for a particular task or may lack awareness of how to conduct themselves in a given situation.
Opportunity
Where a 3rd party undertakes illegal or immoral activities in the comfort & knowledge that they know the whereabouts of the instructing client; the client will by definition be unavailable at the given location otherwise the anticipated actions of the 3rd party would not arise.
Where the client is known by the 3rd party, gathering evidence is very difficult at best and video surveillance will likely be near impossible.
Inside Knowledge
A client may expedite an investigation by directing investigators in almost real time where the client is aware of the movements of the 3rd party being investigated. Be that a husband or employee etc.
A client that is known to be remote to the 3rd party may also help by making the 3rd party more relaxed and possibly more careless and complacent.
EMOTIONAL
Impartiality
With no personal history or involvement, an investigator will make no assumptions that could unduly cloud the perception of a given situation that may ultimately impact on the interpretation presented when reporting our findings to the client.
Detachment
With no personal grievance, an investigator can reliably and calmly, monitor and accurately report, to a client without the risk of emotional volatility impacting or influencing a given situation.
Neutrality
An investigator, experienced in
Influence
An investigator can operate in an environment where a client is otherwise known. 3rd parties are likely to conduct themselves more appropriately when they know they are likely to be judged/monitored. An investigator is perceived as just another stranger and therefore less likely to influence any given situation/environment.
JBE will deploy assets most appropriate for the situation/environment, whether that is a mother and child, 2 older men or a couple, whatever is appropriate for any given scenario with safety being paramount.
